Spinach Yogurt Smoothie

Mom always told you to eat your spinach, so here’s an unexpectedly delicious way to get the green vegetable into your daily diet.

Spinach Yogurt Smoothie

  • 1 tsp. sunflower oil
  • 1/2 tsp. chili powder
  • 14 fl. oz Greek yogurt
  • salt
  • lemon juice (optional)

Wash the spinach and dry. Heat the oil in a pan and heat the spinach over medium heat until the spinach wilts. Let the spinach cool to touch, then process finely with the Greek yogurt. Season with salt and chili powder. Add a dash of lemon juice if you wish. Chill in the refrigerator for about 20 minutes. Pour into glasses and serve well chilled.

Smoothie tip: If fresh spinach is not available, frozen spinach can be used, but it should be heated and left to cool before using it in your smoothie recipe.

Banana & Honey Protein Smoothie

After a recent 5 mile run I was in need of a great tasting recovery drink that was packed with protein and potassium. The banana gave me the potassium I needed while the EAS whey protein added to the total amount of protein already provided by the vanilla flavored almond milk. I must say. This is one great tasting smoothie even without my favorite smoothie ingredient, peanut butter.

I generally add peanut butter into all my post recovery drinks, but this time I skipped it and was able to create a great tasting healthy smoothie without peanut butter!

Greek yogurt has less carbohydrate than your regular yogurt and is packed with more protein than regular yogurt. The end result is one of the thickest and tastiest smoothies I’ve created a long while.
